Would You Follow You? Learning to Lead Yourself Before Leading Others

Successful leaders are rarely defined by one specific trait. Social work skills and training are important, but what gets you the first promotion is not guaranteed to move you into the next level in your career.  In this session, we will explore leadership styles as well as emotional intelligence, the defining factor in setting high achievers apart from their peer group.

You’ll discover your leadership style, areas of growth, and evaluate your most important skills regardless of where you function in macro/micro settings. “Would you follow you?” is a question each SW must ask themselves as they pursue any role influencing and guiding others successfully.

Key Points Of This Session

  • Define two reasons for pursuing leadership roles and at least one pathway to mentorship through community and corporate settings
  • Explore emotional intelligence levels of self awareness. self management, social awareness and relationship management.
  • Identify one area of growth based on identified leadership style and current experiences as a helping professional
